Have you put up your outdoor decorations yet? We are currently working on ours! Capt. M was pretty funny the other night. This is how our conversation went:
Capt. M: “Mom how many days until Christmas?”
Me: “25 days.”
Capt. M: “That’s a loooong time. How come everyone has their Christmas lights up already?”
I was so pleased to hear he wasn’t complaining about the “loooong time” for present opening! So today we joined many other households with decorating the exterior early in the month.
I was asked to head to Kmart to checkout their outdoor decor. Before we headed out, we took note of the items we already had. We had large silver and blue ornaments and blue icicle lights already. I think the best way to stretch your decoration budget is to combine items you own with new items. We also checked out the Kmart ad- planning ahead is a big time saver.
One of the items that my boys were so excited about purchasing was a yard blow up decoration. We have admired other blow ups for the past few years. Capt. M picked out the two snowmen on a sled- one snowman for him and one for Mr. B! I was surprised that it was only $19.99.
I came across a NY Yankee glass ornament set. We are big Yankee fans and these were so cute! I was supposed to be looking for outdoor decor but we just had to have these. The ornaments matched our blue and silver theme too! They will be used on an outdoor wreath I made along with the silver pine cones I fell in love with.
I have always wanted a green garland on our deck railing. One thing to keep in mind when purchasing garland is to measure the length you will need before heading to the store! We needed 5 packages of the pine garland.
Lastly, I came across the birdseed while I was looking at the Christmas decor. It reminded me that I had birdseed ornaments on my to do list. These turned out fabulous and all of the supplies can be found at Kmart.
I ended up with a whole basket full and paid $101. Just $1 over my $100 budget!
