Batch Cooking | Cooking Ahead to Save Time

One of my goals this year is to do more batch cooking. What is batch cooking you ask? Well, it’s cooking food in bulk for use at a later time. The storage of the food will depend on what it is but most items can easily be frozen.

This week I made a large batch of sausage marinara sauce and slow cooker chili. We ate a portion for dinner on two different nights and the rest of the sauce and chili was frozen for future use. I used my FoodSaver and froze the sauce in portions appropriate for my family. After the FoodSaver does it’s job, you can lay the pouch flat so the sauce can be stacked neatly in the freezer. Make sure to label the bags so you know what’s in their!

Since I was off yesterday for the New Year, I also made the quiche (with a homemade pie crust!) we will be having later this week. Thinking ahead and cooking when you have time, will make the workweek so much easier!

Do you batch cook? If not, give it a try! It will save you time, allow you to have homemade meals and save you money!
