How many of you look at a box grater and automatically think cheese grater? For the longest time I only considered using a box grater for cheese! Box graters come in handy for all sorts of things though!

A box grater is great for shredding zucchini, apples, potatoes and carrots easily. I use grated apples in my apple bread. Grated zucchini is great for bread and muffins too! Grated carrots can adorn a salad or be used in bread. Make homemade hashbrowns by grating potatoes!

Box graters can also be used to grate butter! If you need to add a large amount of butter to a recipe, it can be hard to mix in cold butter. Grate a stick of cold butter and it will mix with the ingredients a lot easier.

If you don’t have a zester, the fine side of a box grater can be used for zesting citrus peels.

So stop looking at your box grater as a cheese grater! There are so many other uses for it!
