Budget Planning in 2013

Were you left in the RED in 2012? It’s now January 2013———–a time for new beginnings! Your future depends on actions you will take with your budget now!

As a stay at home mom (Litsa), I’ve had to keep a close watch on our family’s budget so that we could afford the luxuries we desire——-beginning with my abilities to remain home until our little girl begins Kindergarten. Each year, month, week, day, and circumstance brings its own challenges to the table—–the budget table! Last January, we were replacing a furnace to heat our home——–a major expense! This year——-a year later, we are in our heated home enjoying the blessings bestowed to us. However, a multitude of medical bills have filtered in for our family to pay! One small stay at home mommy income & one larger Daddy income have joined forces to negate these medical bills.

I wear the budget crown. Thus, we are using stockpiles, coupons, sales, meal planning first and foremost! Next, I have made the choice to eliminate ballet lessons, computer lessons, and full time daycare from my toddler’s agenda. She is loving the changes and doesn’t miss the excess. Yet, the money saved has helped negate medical bills already.

Secondly, I’m spring cleaning a little earlier and eliminating excess items: old coffee table, last year’s outgrown boots, books, and more. I’ve sold over $150 worth of items sitting around the house and currently awaiting more buyers for items listed (via a resale page on Facebook for our local community). Each of these endeavors is getting us closer to our goal of eliminating all the medical bills before summer!

Do you budget, save, and revamp your family’s income for better outcomes in the future?
