We’ve all used butter. We might have all tried margarine. There are many varieties to choose from now but one MYTH remains: Margarine is better for you than butter.

The facts about margarine and butter our vital to our health. According to FamilyStyle (Publix February/March issue 2015), “Stick margarine typically packs 2 grams trans fat in just a tablespoon. Both this artificial fat and saturated fat (found in butter) increase bad cholesterol levels and also your risk of heart disease. To minimize fat, look for a margarine with no trans fat. (The labeling is important here!) The “Partially Hydrogenated” on the label is equal to trans fat. IF you prefer, real butter flavor, opt for a butter/oil blend, which has half the saturated fat of stick butter.”
