Boys Downward Dog

Yoga is something that I do on a daily basis. Even if it is just a few poses, I always make time for yoga. Yoga has made such a big difference in how my body feels. I am still working on flexibility as I am tight in my hips from sitting all day. My boys have done yoga on and off for the last few months.

Recently Capt. M started complaining of right groin pain while running. After discussing Capt. M’s problem with my coach, it became apparent that I needed to make yoga a routine for him as well. Capt. M is tight in his hips like me. The tightness resulted in a knot in the groin area. After a couple days of gentle massage and yoga, his pain was gone!
Boys Triangle

To make yoga more fun for my boys, I bought Family Yoga with Rodney Yee. The video has Yee’s kids in it and my boys love it! Last week as I was getting ready for work, I heard Yee’s voice. I peeked downstairs to find Capt. M awake standing on a yoga mat practicing. He started the DVD all on his own! That sight brought a huge smile to my face!

It’s never too early (or too late!) to start yoga! Encourage your kid’s to get involved and celebrate National Yoga Month!
