You have probably heard of people say they are clean eating or eating clean. It’s a very popular term at the moment!

So what does that actually mean?

Clean eating is cutting out processed foods and eating foods in whole form. This involves eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean meats. Most prepackaged foods would not be considered eating clean. For beverages it means cutting out soda and sugary drinks. No high fructose corn syrup or saturated fats!

Clean eating is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle. We strive to eat as clean as possible. Over the last few years I have cut way back on boxed side dishes and replaced them with homemade items or whole fruits and vegetables. I also strive to incorporate whole grains- like whole wheat, barley, and whole grain rice.

Clean eating doesn’t have to be difficult! Just stick to as many foods in their whole form while grocery shopping as you can. Cooking from scratch doesn’t take as long as it sounds and your body will be thankful!
