Your voice as a consumer is vital. Products and companies value both positive feedback and any criticism you may have on their products. Sometimes there are issues that arise that are troublesome but unless we communicate them to the company, no resolution can be obtained.

Recently, I (Litsa) was dusting with my favorite product, Pledge. I noticed that the bottle was half full but it would not spray out besides a dribble. I placed it aside with a mental note to write the company. I tried a second bottle but was sidetracked with other chores. A day or so later, I noticed both bottles in the trash can. My husband opted to toss them both since he had the same issue as I did from both our bottles of Pledge. I pulled them out of the trash can and wiped them clean so that I could contact SC Johnson about the products in question.

The bottles sat next to my computer on the floor reminding me to write the customer service team. I pulled up their product page and penned a letter of my isolated situation. I have been buying Pledge for years and have never had this issue until now. The consumer contact form was simple to fill out. I noted both my concern and feedback of a product I love on the report I was sending in to the company. Within 24 hours, I had a response.

I look forward to my replacement bottles of Pledge. An email I received noted, “I’m sorry to hear of your recent experience with Pledge® Furniture Spray Lemon Clean – what you’ve described is very unusual. Quality has always been at the heart of our company though, so we appreciate your bringing this to our attention. And as we’re always working to provide products you can trust, know your feedback was immediately shared with the Pledge® team.

We want to make this right and hope to regain your faith in our furniture spray . To do so, I’m mailing two full value coupons to the address you provided. Please expect them to arrive in about two weeks.

Lastly, as a friendly reminder, it’s very important to not only shake these cans well before each use, but hold them upright while spraying. Doing so will help to release an equal amount of propellant and polish with each spray.”

As a consumer, I did take the initiative to try once again to use the cans of Pledge properly as noted above but they did not work. Thus, they are in the recycle bin as I wait for my product coupons for new cans of Pledge.

Until then, I’m still dusting but with the Pledge All Surface product. There’s always something to dust and/or wipe clean. I really can’t live without my home’s supply of Pledge.

Use your consumer voice.
