Daddy Daycare: Sick Ward

Hubby has come a long way in child rearing. In fact when Capt. M was an infant, I was a nervous wreck leaving hubby home alone with the baby. He was nervous too as he had never cared for a baby. The first couple of years were a little rough. Hubby had to learn by trial and error and I had to learn to be less controlling. Yes, I had to learn that my way wasn’t the only way that things can be done.

Fast forward to last week…

As I reported yesterday, Mr. B has been sick for over a week now. Not only did he have a nasty virus but he ended up with chiggers. The combination has lead to many sleepless nights- six nights in a row in fact!

The first day that Mr. B became ill, hubby handled the whole thing. I came home from work and hubby tells me that Mr. B had a 102° fever and he dispensed Motrin. Now, a year ago he would have called me at work not knowing what to do! I would have had to walk him through the steps of taking Mr. B’s temperature and how much medication to dispense. But this time he knew exactly what to do; he is truly becoming a pro stay at home dad!

When Mr. B wakes in the night he automatically comes to me for snuggles and comfort. The first couple of nights I was up with him for an hour each night. Hubby knows that I don’t handle loss of sleep well (I get a little cranky!), so he has been taking over the nighttime duty. The last few nights Mr. B has woken, hubby takes charge and leaves me to go back to sleep. Isn’t that the sweetest thing?!

I am truly blessed and thankful for how far we have come!

Hubby is currently a stay at home dad to our two boys. Capt. M is 6 and in 1st grade and Mr. B is 4 and loves staying home with daddy all day. Join us as we chronicle our journey adjusting to daddy daycare.
