There are so many ways to help the environment – including being aware of our attire! I (Litsa) loved this little Glamour tidbit: Three Ways to Dress to Help the Planet—-and since it was still swimming in the sea of paper piles on my desk AND it is EARTH MONTH (but isn’t every month about living green!?!)…..I thought I’d share how we can all dress to please our planet:

#1 Buy LESS. Choose well. Make it LAST. We can all do this by avoiding impulse purchases and focusing on investing in quality pieces we’ll still wear five years from now.

#2 Secondhand isn’t second best—swap, donate, re-love pieces from your past, share with a sister/friend, thrift shop, etc. Shopping at Goodwill and/or other local thrift stores helps stretch the life of your wardrobe—-and pocketbook! Additionally, giving your discarded items away helps others. Give life by living green.

#3 Air-dry your laundry on a clothesline or rack. Garment colors and fabrics are maintained along with the fit you fell in love with in the first place. Saved energy—a win-win!

There are always treasures lurking in local thrift stores so take a day out of your month to browse high and low—or attend/host a yard sale with friends/family! It’s a great season to declutter and focus on saving money while shopping second hand. Summer play clothes (and swim attire) should encompass these three ‘save the planet’ unwritten rules.

Live Green—dress to impress the Earth!

Thanks Glamour for the mini rules to win over planet Earth with our closets!
