Blackberry Sweet Tea Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 cups (16 oz) fresh or frozen blackberries (if using frozen make sure there is no added sugar)
  • 1 cup of sugar (or corresponding measurement for sugar substitute)
  • 1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
  • ⅛ tsp baking soda
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 2 family size tea bags
  • 2 ½ cups cold water
  • Fresh blackberries (to garnish-optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves (to garnish-optional)
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl or pitcher combine blackberries and sugar.
  2. Crush the berries using a wooden spoon and then mix in mint and baking soda. Set aside.
  3. Boil 4 cups of water and pour over tea bags, cover & steep for 3-4 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags.
  4. Pour tea over blackberry mixture, stir and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour.
  5. After 1 hour, pour tea through mesh strainer into a large pitcher. Use a spoon to press out all the liquid before discarding the solids.
  6. Add cold water and chill before serving.
  7. Garnish if desired with fresh mint leaves and blackberries. Enjoy!
