Blackberry Sweet Tea Recipe

- 3 cups (16 oz) fresh or frozen blackberries (if using frozen make sure there is no added sugar)
- 1 cup of sugar (or corresponding measurement for sugar substitute)
- 1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
- ⅛ tsp baking soda
- 4 cups boiling water
- 2 family size tea bags
- 2 ½ cups cold water
- Fresh blackberries (to garnish-optional)
- Fresh mint leaves (to garnish-optional)
- In a large bowl or pitcher combine blackberries and sugar.
- Crush the berries using a wooden spoon and then mix in mint and baking soda. Set aside.
- Boil 4 cups of water and pour over tea bags, cover & steep for 3-4 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags.
- Pour tea over blackberry mixture, stir and let stand at room temperature for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, pour tea through mesh strainer into a large pitcher. Use a spoon to press out all the liquid before discarding the solids.
- Add cold water and chill before serving.
- Garnish if desired with fresh mint leaves and blackberries. Enjoy!
