Recipe type: Side Dish
Ingredients
  • ½ loaf of French bread (store bought or homemade)
  • 10 oz reduced fat Ricotta cheese
  • ⅛ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Slice half a loaf of French bread length-wise in half and place on sheet pan.
  3. In a small bowl combine Ricotta, parmesan, garlic and basil, mix well.
  4. Spread mixture equally over each half of the French bread.
  5. Then top each equally with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes. If cheese does not brown on top, broil on high for an additional 2-3 minutes until cheese begins to brown and bubble!
  7. Serve & enjoy!
  8. Yields 6 servings.
Notes
* Double recipe if you are feeding a large family. I only needed to serve 3 people. * Use fresh garlic and basil for additional freshness and flavor! * French bread comes in different flavors, experiment to find your favorite. I used an “everything” French loaf, but would normally make my own garlic & herb loaf if time permitted.
