Add Italian sausage and cook until no longer pink. Set sausage aside.
Add onion, parsley, basil and Italian seasoning to pan that sausage was cooked in. Cook until onions are clear.
Add garlic and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Add tomatoes, sauce, paste and pepper. Heat until boiling. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
Add Parmesan cheese, sugar and pepper. Simmer for an additional 15 minutes. I add a lid that is slightly vented to prevent sauce popping all over my stove.
