Fill a Bucket: Colorful Pails

bucketRecently, we shared with you the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today?—–I (Litsa) personally ordered a copy of this book for my daughter. It was part of our reading material for last night…My very literal daughter said, “But I don’t see my bucket!” I reminded her that it was invisible as mine is too. WE read the book and discussed all the wonderful ways that our buckets could be filled. The most magical moment for me was when she caught on that ‘if she fills someone’s bucket, she also fills her own’—giving to others, fills us with hope too. IF my kindergarten student can give a compliment and fill someone’s bucket and in turn her bucket fills too, I’ll count that as joy!

I love these little pails that Amazon has in assorted colors for just $6.60 shipped with Prime. We have a set at home that I’ll use to encourage filling up buckets. Throughout the week, I’ll toss in ways I saw or heard or felt ‘bucket deposits’—-written little reminders on scrap paper. At the end of the week, we’ll pull them out and review all the perfect ways we filled our buckets. The conversations alone will be priceless. If you have a large family and/or several children in your family, you might want to DRAW a strip of paper at the end of the week—-that child’s bucket deposit might earn him the choice of dinner, a special mommy/daughter or son date, or………

The bucket deposits—-encourage them! Don’t forget that your bucket must stay full too!
