Travel Tip: Finding Deals on Hotel Stays

Last summer we took a road trip down to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. It’s about a 15 hour car trip for us and we knew that we would split the driving into two days. However, we didn’t have an exact plan of where we would stop for the night. We felt the best option for us was to drive as far as we could the first day and then find a hotel.

I ended up using Hotels.com to find last minute lodging on our route. What I did was use my smartphone to go to hotels.com as hubby was driving. The mobile website allows you to put in your current location. Then I simply started searching for a hotel that would fit our needs.

The nice thing about using hotels.com is that you can easily compare different hotel chains. I could search for a hotel with a pool which was a requirement for the boys! Since we were booking at the last minute, I could also find a discounted rate.

We used hotels.com on the road two times last summer and it worked out perfectly. Both times I ended up getting acceptable rooms for under $90 including all taxes and fees.

If you are traveling with out a set plan, give hotels.com a try when your out on the road. Of course they are great to use when you are planning a stay anytime. I just found their website particularly easy to use for last minute stays.
