Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

We eat taco’s almost every week since they are so easy to prepare and they are kid friendly. We have been making a homemade taco seasoning for awhile now. I am trying to cut out as much of the “weird” and unknown ingredients as possible. Not to mention many seasoning packets have MSG in them. This recipe is simple too!

Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

Recipe type: Seasoning
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cumin
Instructions
  1. Mix all spices together. Pulse a few times in a food processor to mix (I used my hand blender attachment).
  2. Store in air tight container.
  3. To season meat, add 1-2 Tablespoons of mix to 1 pound of ground beef. Add in1/3 cup of water and simmer until water evaporates.
Notes
* Add ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes if you want a spicier mix. * I usually use 1 Tablespoon of mix on 1 pound of meat with good results. You may want to add more if you like more spice. * I double this recipe so that I don't have to make the mix every week.
