One way that I save money on produce is to stockup when it is at rock bottom price. Most people shy away from produce stockup opportunities since produce is perishable. However, most fruit can be frozen easily! A couple of weeks ago, Kroger had whole pineapple for $1. This was the perfect time to stockup on pineapple for smoothies!

It is really easy to freeze pineapple. First just cut the skin off the pineapple and cut the fruit away from the core. Then place the pineapple chunks on a baking sheet. You will want to flash freeze the pineapple chunks so they don’t stick together.

Once the pineapple chunks are frozen, place them in a freezer bag. Now you have frozen pineapple for smoothies this summer!
