Not all fats are bad! In fact your body needs fats. One way to incorporate healthy fats into your day is to stick with these three tips.

  1.  Get a boost at breakfast. If you begin your day with a smoothie or toast, try adding almond butter or even whole/sliced almonds to your breakfast. Chia seeds are a great added addition to oatmeal, cereal, or jam. They have tons of omega three fatty acids that puts a KICK into our day!
  2. Make your own salad dressing. Using olive oil creates the healthy fat that you need to eat your greens. Along side the 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil, add 4 to 5 tablespoons of vinegar and/or a splash of orange juice, a dollop of honey, garlic and/or other herbs from your spice rack!
  3. Go Craz-EEee for Coconut OILYou may have heart that its highly saturated in fat but coconut oil is getting a new rap sheet! It may boost thyroid functions, promote weight-loss, protect against infections, etc. Use it to bake with and/or saute vegetables with weekly!

These three tips for incorporating healthy fats into our day was pulled from Cooking Light‘s Healthy Living section from July 2013. However, the team here on the blog is aware of the goodness of each tip. Thus, we are sharing these tips with you as all embrace healthy eating patterns for ourselves and our families!
