Inventory Baking Supplies & Spices

Spices

Since we are headed into prime baking and cooking season, I wanted to remind you to take inventory of your supplies! Just yesterday I was baking some muffins and realized my baking soda was out of date. That prompted me to check my baking powder and spices too!

Over the next few weeks we will see the lowest prices on baking supplies. For example, Kroger has Domino’s sugar (4 lb.) for as low as $1.59. This is an excellent price and will probably be the lowest price of the baking season. I am buying several bags since I make a lot of candy and baked goods in December.

So your job is:

  • Inventory your spices and make sure they are still good. Spices do loose potency over time.
  • Check your baking soda, baking powder, corn syrup, powdered sugar, brown sugar, granulated sugar and flour supply.
  • Start pulling recipes of items you make during the holiday season. Make a list of the ingredients you need.
  • Start shopping for items you need to replace in your pantry.

Knowing what ingredients you need will help you save the most money this season. You can take your time looking for the best deals if you start in advance!
