Kroger Shopping Trip: Scan Right Guarantee

kroger 2/27

I made a quick to Kroger for produce and the deal on paper goods mostly. I hit the store at the right time as there were several produce items on markdown with several days of life left in them!

When I placed all of the groceries in the car I looked over my receipt to check the prices and coupons. The Dannon yogurt had a shelf price listed at $1.88 and they rang up at $2.49 and $2.79. I marched right back into the store to the customer service desk. I inquired about the price discrepancy and the cashier didn’t say a word. She just started typing numbers into the register and handed me $5.55 back plus my yogurts! Yes, Kroger has a scan right guarantee. If the item you buy rings at the wrong price (or in this case the ad tag was not taken down), you receive the item for free.

  1. I didn’t know that about the Scan Right Policy. Thanks for the tip!

    • Yes, the scan right guarantee is wonderful. This is the first time I have had it happen at Kroger. Many stores have this policy or something similar. A good reason to always check the receipt!

  2. I love the scan right guarantee policy! I actually had it happen to me on a 5 lb package of ground beef one time!!! I was tempted to go back and get more of them before they caught on, but figured that would be dishonest :(

    • Hi Shannon,
Wow, that is a huge mistake for them but a great deal for you! A week later I went to the same Kroger I purchased the yogurt at and the wrong sign was still posted. I didn’t buy them again though- I am with you on the honesty thing! But they should have taken down the signs!

  3. I shop in the Kroger store in Batesville, AR. About once a month a mistake is made and I have never heard of the scan right guarantee.

    • Hi Brenda,
The scan right guarantee is in the official Kroger policy. Sometimes I have to gently remind them of their own policy! Next time, ask when an item rings up wrong. Good luck!
