Life With Boys: Butterflies & Moths

Spring brings all kinds of joy to our household. Longer days, more time outside and of course bugs! Last weekend Mr. B was the butterfly whisperer! He caught two butterflies and two moths of varying sizes. He has a large butterfly land right in his hands. Unfortunately I never got a picture of this beautiful butterfly before it flew off.

A couple of years ago I bought the Insect Lore Butterfly Garden for the boys. They enjoyed watching the butterflies emerge from the chrysalis. Since we still had the “cage” I let the boys keep the butterflies they caught to look at for the day. We fed them a slice of orange and then let them fly off into the sunset.

If you haven’t tried catching butterflies lately, give it a try! It will bring back childhood memories! Also, I highly recommend the Insect Lore Live Butterfly Garden. It is a really neat way for the kid’s to learn about metamorphosis.
