Life With Boys: Date Night

This last Saturday hubby and I had a date night. We rarely go out without the boys tagging along. Now that our boys are 4 and 6 I feel more comfortable leaving them. And really, I think it is important for us to get a few hours of adult time every once in awhile.

The boys actually stayed the night at their uncle and aunt’s house. When I told Capt. M of the impending sleepover he yelled out “You are the best mom ever!” Yes, he was thrilled to be with his cousins. He then went on to say that he would take care of Mr. B. The boys have only stayed away from home one or two times; so this was a big deal. It turns out that Capt. M had to assure and comfort Mr. B at bedtime- such a good big brother!

When hubby and I woke up Sunday morning the house was strangely quiet. I was able to do an hour of yoga with no interruptions and I actually took a shower without someone bursting in! I had renewed energy and was ready for the boys to come back home.

Hubby and I have a goal to have date night more often. Not only is it important for our relationship, I think it benefits the boys too.

How often do you have date night? If you haven’t had one in awhile, I encourage you to do so!
