Last Minute Batgirl Costume

Last Halloween I had a last minute urge to dress in a costume to take my boys trick-or-treating. I have always worn some sort of Halloween decor for my boys but it’s usually just a Halloween t-shirt and pants – maybe a silly headband. For some reason, I felt like being a kid!

With about two hours before trick-or-treating time, I scoured pinterest for last minute costume ideas. I headed to my closet and my boys dress up box to see what I had to work with. A blue batman mask stood out to me and my last minute costume was born.

Hubby quickly spray painted the blue mask black for me. I printed out a batgirl template found here. To make the batgirl symbol I printed it out on heavy card stock and painted it with gold glitter glue. The batgirl symbol was simply pinned on my black dress.

To complete the look, I wrapped a gold belt around my waist and added a black cape. I threw on some black tights and black boots, ready to roll!

This batgirl costume cost nothing! It was completely from items we had at home. Not too bad for a last minute costume!

My boys loved that I dressed up with them and I plan to do it again. In fact I have this years Halloween costume already planned with items I found at Goodwill.

If you are contemplating dressing up for Halloween, take a look at what you have on hand and work from there. Costumes do not have to cost you a lot of money. A little effort and quick look on the internet can result in a pretty cool costume!
