Flaxseed

I started adding flaxseed to many of our homemade baked items a few months ago. Flaxseed is high in Omega-3 fatty acids and fiber. Adding a bit of flaxseed into your diet is an easy way to increase your daily fiber! It can improve your digestive health and potentially fight cancer. Flaxseed may also help lower cholesterol.

I add flaxseed and chia seeds to our homemade granola bars. The nice thing about both flaxseed and chia seeds is it doesn’t really change the flavor! My family doesn’t even notice that I add these power foods into our snacks.

I just read that it is more beneficial to add ground flaxseed rather than whole flaxseed. I will have to start using a coffee grinder to grind up those seeds before adding to my recipes.

If you haven’t tried adding flaxseed to your diet, give it a try! I bet you won’t even notice it’s in your food and your body will thank you for the added nutrients!
