Summer Produce

Summer is almost here! If you have looked in the produce department lately you have probably noticed a change. The summer months bring my favorite types of produce! We tend to eat a ton of fruits and vegetables in the summer. Plus it is a great time to stock the freezer by flash freezing produce. Most fruits can be frozen easily. Vegetables usually require blanching before freezing. Visit your farmer’s markets and local orchards for fresh produce this summer!

Buying fruit and vegetables that are in season is the easiest way to save money on your grocery bill.

This list is for fruits and vegetables that come into season in June, July and August for most parts of the country.

Apricots
Basil
Beans
Beets
Berries
Cherries (early summer)
Corn
Cucumbers
Dates
Figs (late summer)
Grapes
Mangoes
Melons
Okra
Peaches
Peppers
Plums
Summer Squash (Zucchini, Yellow)
Tomatoes
Watermelon
