One of the easiest ways to save money on produce is to plan your menu around what is in season. I thought it would be helpful to list what fruits and vegetables are currently in season. You will see that my menu plan for the next couple of months will consist of many of the fruits and vegetables on this list. If you want to add other off season produce into your diet, your best bet is frozen or canned items.

Winter Season Produce

Avocados
Broccoli
Brussels Sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Celery
Fennel
Grapefruit
Greens
Mushrooms
Onions
Oranges
Pears
Pomegranates
Potatoes
Spinach
Sweet Potatoes

Most of these fruits and vegetables will be in season for the months of December, January and February.

Make sure you also note what to stockpile in Fall and Winter! This is a great time to stockup on canned or frozen vegetables, soup, broth and more!
