Ginger is one of my favorite juicing ingredients. I’m (Litsa) amazed at its many health benefits that I’ve enjoyed over the course of the past two years when I first introduced ginger into my diet. Thus, when I came across this ‘Recipe for Pain Relief’ in one of my magazines, it became a recipe to try. However, this recipe is for a compress rather than one to digest.

To make the compress, mix two teaspoons ground ginger with one cup hot water. Soak a cloth in the mixture and squeeze firmly to remove excess water before applying.

This ginger compress was placed on people’s midbacks for thirty minutes daily. After a week, the pain and fatigue was reduced by half. In the study noted by author Tessa Therkleson, a researcher at Edith Cowan University in Australia, “Topical ginger seems to warm and relax the musculoskeletal system, enabling increased mobility.”

This key sentence “The fix likely works for pulled muscles and achy joints, too.” was one too that had me pulling out this compress recipe out of my magazine. With a contractor in our household, we’ll be sure to hold our own study for pain relief using ginger.

Renae has also added ground ginger to hot epsom salt baths. The combination of the epsom salt and ground ginger really helps detox sore muscles. Keep in mind that ground ginger will make you sweat – add just a tablespoon or two. It’s a great detox bath!

Stock up on ground ginger for this recipe for pain relief! And if by chance, it doesn’t work for you enjoy a dozen or two of Gingersnap Cookies—-they’re the best ground ginger cookies ever.
