As many of you know, I live out in the country. The only major grocery store in my small town is Food Lion. It’s conveniently located just a minute from my dojo! Needless to say, it’s my go to store for quick grocery shopping.

Food Lion recently redesigned their website making it easier than ever to navigate! Not only can you load digital coupons to your shoppers card, but you can gather recipes. When you login to your MVP account, you will see how much you have saved this year, your shopping list and the coupons you have saved to your card.

The recipe tab is a great resource for finding new inspiration for meals! There are pictures of each recipe. Plus many of the recipes are submitted by fellow shoppers! I love that these recipes are made by home cooks and easy to replicate. I recently submitted a recipe for a French Bread Monte Cristo sandwich. It took me under five minutes to write up and submit my recipe.

So let me tell you a bit about my recipe inspiration! When I was in Fort Lauderdale for USA Karate Nationals a couple of weeks ago, I went out to dinner with friends. I had hard time deciding if I wanted breakfast for dinner or a sandwich. Then I spotted the Monte Cristo sandwich on the menu – perfect solution! A Monte Cristo is a wonderful combination of French toast bread piled high with meat and cheese and drizzled in maple syrup. So yummy!

When I ventured to Food Lion, I found lunchmeat on sale and decided I would create a Monte Cristo sandwich at home. I used bakery fresh French Bread to make my sandwiches. I sliced the bread thick and got five sandwiches out of a loaf.

They turned out spectacular and the kids loved them! View the complete recipe for my French Bread Monte Cristo Sandwich on the Food Lion website.

If you have a great recipe and are a Food Lion shopper, make sure you submit your recipe! It’s kind of fun to see your recipe and pictures up on a store site!
