Don’t be so fast to throw out the bulb ends of your green onions! My brother texted me a picture of his store bought green onions that he is regrowing! Many recipes call for just the green part of a green onion or scallion. The white part and roots can simply be placed in water for the greens to grow back.

Simply cut the greens off the onion. My brother ended up cutting his right above the rubber band. Then place the onions root side down in water. You only need an inch or two of water. The growth in the top picture is from one week of being in water! Pretty amazing!

I have posted about this previously under How to Grow Scallions in the Kitchen Window. I had kind of fallen off this path and glad my brother reminded me! Celery can be regrown from the bottom end as well!
