Have you done your back to school supplies shopping yet? I went to get my boys items and it was a huge list! I tried to save as much money as possible by looking for the best deals. It turns out that sometimes the smaller packages cost less per unit than the larger packages! Let’s look at glue sticks for example.

The two pack of glue sticks is $0.50 making it $0.25 per glue stick. The 6 pack of glue sticks was $1.99 which works out to $0.33 per glue stick. So getting the smaller packs saved me $0.08 per glue stick. Between both boys we needed 28 glue sticks (that’s a lot of glue!). By buying the two packs, I saved $2.24! I found the same scenario when I went to buy facial tissues which were also on the back to school list. The individual boxes were cheaper than the bonus packs.

So when you are out their doing the back to school shopping, bring a calculator along and calculate out the unit price. It can be very overwhelming since there are several different size packaging for the same products. I found it helpful to go shopping without the boys so I could concentrate!
