After two weeks of ice and freezing rain, our little town of West Tennessee had been anticipating SPRING—-and we did receive a ray of hope that it was NEAR with 65 degree weather until Wednesday. However, the weatherman promised a Winter Storm Watch in the midst of all the springlike breezes of warm air. The milk disappeared from grocery shelves and school was canceled before temperatures plummeted!?!

Mid-day on Wednesday, the rain began….the conversations around town, on soical media, and among neighbors centered around winter’s storm. Luckily, the rain turned to snow without power outages and heavy laden trees collapsing. Fluffy white snow greeted us Thursday morning. My personal request was to get out and drive around town and the country to take in the white from the luxury of a seat warmer!

Sledding was not an option but we found this little PURRFECT creature in the county that a lady allowed us to photograph. She was busy creating a dog too!?! Her children were seeking shelter indoors but she was carefully patting and allowing her love for her children to shine through her creations. A snow clown greeted us on our way home and a fort on Parkview that two tweens/teenagers were working on together. We complimented their work with quick waves and smiles but vowed to return tomorrow for a picture of their handiwork.

Warm hugs were shared and believe it or not, this very snowman with ivy-laden hair taunted us to create Snow Cream for Two.

Fun families are simply those of us that make the most out of every unexpected twist and turn! Even when we want to stand in front of the mirror and practice aloud, “Oh! Gosh!” in our most dramatic voice (This was my daughter as she was mimicing my husband coming in the backdoor after pulling out cars and trucks out of ditches and cleaning driveways for neighbors and strangers alike!)

Our children follow our lead. Their eyes are focused on us. We must guide them and teach them to savor the moments—–and count the joy in whatever seasons are bestowed upon us! Whether you’re helping them measure their own learning or the unexpected snow that arrived overnight, you too will look back in wonder of all that you enjoyed.

Snow Bob

Renae also experienced snow in central Virginia! Living in a rural community means the town shuts down when it comes to inclement weather. One activity that we missed was karate. The big joke between our karate friends was to replace karate we should build a snow-bob. At the dojo we have a punching dummy we call Bob. So my boys and I created a snow-bob! It turned out pretty good with ripped muscles and all! Capt. M and Mr. B had a fun time throwing punches and kicks until snow-bob was defeated – which took hardly anytime.

Snow Creations, anyone!?! Think outside the box with your next “snowman”!
