Are your fitness goal(s) from the beginning of the year still your focus? Were you too busy putting decorations away and finding room for Christmas gifts that you didn’t take time to jot down your fitness goal(s) for 2012? It’s never too late to get started! Stop. Breathe. Think. Focus on a plan that is doable and one that brings you pleasure! The more you move throughout the day, the more calories you will burn! Pair that with healthy meal planning and you’re on the right track to start seeing changes in your body!

For myself, the changes that I want to see are more energy! A toned, lean body is just an added bonus! I, personally, want to physically be strong enough to care for myself and my young daughter no matter what challenges life brings me. When I exercise, the stress load diminishes. I can’t even envision myself participating in a triathlon but one of my fitness goals is to walk/run a 5K or many in my lifetime. My shins say no, no! My busy schedule asks, “When will you have time?” But I’m determined……..

When my daughter was born, I waited around for someone to WALK with us but soon realized that if I wanted to lose pregnancy weight, I had to move it, move it. Together, we walked, strolled, played outside, and strolled some more! After three strollers, my body transformed into one that I can love again. This year when she attended preschool for the first time, I continued walking alone. I sold one stroller and donated the other two reluctantly because she was my walking/jogging partner—–and it was a sign of time running out to hold her near! But, I maintained walking weekly—-after a small break this winter on cold, cold days. There the goal of walking/running a 5K emerged—something for me! A goal that pulled me towards strength, endurance in my late thirties!

The Couch-to-5K Running Plan is going to be my guide starting this week! After reading over it, I realized that I’m already for week 2 on the plan which allows you to repeat weeks if needed and move ahead only when you feel you’re ready! That’s a plan this busy mommy can maintain! And even better, as I walk/run & now TRAIN, I can relieve stress, save gym fees, and travel this summer with this fitness plan in my luggage.

I think I can! I think I can! I think I will!
