homemade extracts

This last weekend I bottled up my homemade extracts! This year I made mint extract and vanilla extract. Homemade extracts are so easy to make. Really it is just alcohol, like vodka, and the flavor of your choice. The vanilla extract smells so good! For the mint extract I used chocolate mint from my garden. It smells similar to mouthwash! Mint extract is great for baking or use in hot cocoa.

To package my extracts for gifts I used Boston Brown 4 oz. bottles. I bought them on Amazon and they work great! I used my label printer to label each bottle.

In addition to making extracts, we can goods each summer to give as gifts. I arranged applesauce, peach jam, strawberry jam, apple butter and pickles in a box with the extracts. I think it really turned out nice!
