I have a new food love. Yes, I am in love with chevre which is goat cheese. It is smooth and creamy and full of flavor. When I was younger, we had a goat that my mom milked. Honestly, my sister and I hated the taste of goat milk! We often filled out little brother’s cup when mom wasn’t looking! As an adult, I like the tangy taste.

Chevre is packed full of protein and lower in calories than cow’s milk cheese. Goat cheese is also easier to digest than other types of cheese. Some people that are lactose intolerant are able to eat goat cheese.

Chevre is like a cream cheese consistency. It melts well too. I eat it on sandwiches, in goat cheese quasadilla’s, in salads and stuffed mushrooms.

If you have not tried chevre lately, pick some up the next time you shop. Remember taste buds change over time. Even if you tried something new years ago and didn’t care for it, try it again. Sometimes I am surprised by liking something I thought I didn’t care for!
