Try Something New: Kefir

Kefir

I had a free product coupon for Lifeway Kefir in my coupon organizer for well over a year. There was no expiration date so I was in no rush to use it. Plus I didn’t even know what Kefir was! After I read through the book High Protein, No Powder, I decided it was time to try Kefir.

Kefir is like a liquid yogurt with added probiotics. Lifeway Kefir contains 12 strains of probiotic cultures whereas most yogurt only contain 2-3 strains. Probiotics aid in digestion. Kefir is also gluten and lactose free and may even help people that are lactose intolerant.

Kefir is a little more tart than drinkable yogurts. However, Mr. B didn’t mind! He was so excited to see the bottle of “blueberry juice”! He drank it straight and asked for more.

I have been using Kefir in my smoothie! I love that it is easy to pour right into the pitcher. Of course my body is loving the extra probiotics too!

Have you tried Kefir? Or did you try something new this week? We would love to hear!
