Try Something New: Plumcot

plumcot

At the store the other day I was greeted in the produce section with a heaping pile of Plumcots. I had never heard of a plumcot but decided it was something we had to try! A plumcot is also referred to as a pluot. A plumcot is a cross between a plum and an apricot.

The plumcots we bought were a reddish purple color. They are firmer than an apricot which I like! The skin of a plumcot is smooth like a plum. My boys liked the smooth skin instead of the fuzzy skin that apricots have. Plumcots are sweet and full of flavor! We really enjoyed the plumcots – I think even more so than a regular plum! They are such a pretty color too!
