We visited my sister in California recently and I fell in love with her backyard. She has a green thumb with plants and flowers! While I tend to concentrate on a vegetable garden, she does well with a flower garden. At the entrance to her backyard she has a wood pallet planter. It is very simple to make!

To make a wooden pallet into a planter you will need some weed block and a staple gun. Simply staple the weed block material underneath the row of wooden slats going across the pallet. The weed block will be strong enough to hold the soil. Once you have stapled on the weed block to the bottom of the slats, fill your new plant holder rows with soil.

Then add in your plants! The wood pallet planter is perfect for herbs, strawberries and succulents. Any plant that doesn’t require deep roots would work well in this planter.

Wooden pallets are often given away for free on Craigslist making this project very affordable!
