Doritos, taco shells, tortilla chips or other taco flavored chip, crumbled (topping)
Instructions
In a sauté pan brown ground beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink, drain excess grease and return to pan.
Add taco seasoning mix and ¾ cup water, stir and simmer over medium-low heat for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Remove from heat and cool.
Once meat has cooled, combine meat, cheese, black olives, tomatoes, lettuce and dressing; mix together and chill.
Crumble preferred chip on top before serving.
Serve and enjoy!
Notes
* Lettuce becomes soggy in the salad if it sits overnight, so if you are preparing the dish ahead of time refrain from adding lettuce until you are ready to serve.
* Add ½ small onion to beef before browning.
* Guacamole, avocado slices, salsa and sour cream also make great additions to this dish; add as a topping before serving.
* Use ground turkey or shredded chicken breasts for an alternate to ground beef.
