Everything Bagel Hummus Recipe

  • 15 oz. can garbanzo beans, rinsed & drained
  • ¼ cup tahini
  • ¼ cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. cumin
  • ½ tsp. onion powder
  • ½ tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1-2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil + extra if necessary to reach desired consistency
  • 2-3 tbsp. water
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp. dried minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp. dried minced onion
  • 1 tbsp. poppy seeds
Instructions
  1. In a small sauté pan over low heat toast the ingredients for everything bagel topping (sesame seeds, dried minced garlic, dried minced onion and poppy seeds) until golden brown and fragrant, set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a food processor combine tahini & lemon juice and process for 1 minute; scrape edges and process for an additional 30-45 seconds. In order to get smooth creamy hummus you really need to take the time to process each set of ingredients and allow each to reach a really creamy smooth consistency.
  3. Add 2 tbsp. olive oil, minced garlic, kosher salt, cumin, onion powder and garlic salt to the food processor. Process for 30 seconds; scrape edges and process and additional 30-45 seconds.
  4. Add ½ the rinsed and drained chickpeas and process for 1 minute; scrape edges and add the remaining chickpeas and process for 1-2 minutes or longer if large chunks of chickpeas remain.
  5. Now in order to get that store-bought consistency slowly add 1 additional tbsp. of olive oil then water until you achieve the texture you’re looking for. Do not add too much water---no more than 3 tbsp. should be sufficient.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish, drizzle with olive oil and top with everything bagel topping (the seasonings you sauteed in the first step).
  7. Serve & enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator!
