There are certain fruits and vegetables that are considered the dirty dozen since they are high in pesticide content. If you can, it is best to buy organic for these select products.

Dirty Dozen

  • Peaches
  • Apples
  • Sweet Bell Peppers
  • Celery
  • Nectarines
  • Strawberries
  • Cherries
  • Pears
  • Imported Grapes
  • Spinach
  • Lettuce
  • Potatoes

Of course planting your own garden can take care of several of the items on the list. We plan to grow potatoes, lettuce, strawberries, peppers and maybe spinach in our garden this Spring and Summer. We also have a peach tree that is organic!

Do you buy organic? If so, what do you buy organic- meat, produce, dairy, etc?
