Rite Aid 3/6/11

I headed to Rite Aid this morning since I had +UP Rewards expiring. This was a great week to shop since there are some moneymakers and freebies. I do admit that I made a few mistakes. I had my two year old tagging along and I think I forgot my brain at home!

Transaction #1

(4) Port Clyde Sardines B1G1 50% off ($1.29 and $0.64)
–get $1 +UP for each

Keri Lotion, $6.99
–get $6 Single Check Rebate

Used $3 printable coupon

Mentos, $0.50
used $0.50/1 Mentos coupon from (SS 2/6/11)

(4) Lysol Products, $2
-get $1 SCR wyb 2

Used (2) $1/2 coupons from (SS 3/6/11)
* This is where I messed up. I thought this was a +UP reward and it was actually a SCR deal. I had to return (2) of the Lysol products.

Valentine’s Cards, 90% off, $0.29

Airwick Aerosol, B1G1
used B1G1 coupon from (SS 3/6/11)

Paid: $13 in +UPs and $2.39 cash

Got Back: $4 in +UPs and will submit for $7 in SCR

Plus, I returned (2) Lysol realizing my mistake and the manager gave me $4.20 cash back. My mess up turned into a good deal as I paid with +UPs and got paid back in cash!

Transaction #2

Tavist, $6.99
–get $6 Single Check Rebate

Comtrex, $4.99
–get $4 Single Check Rebate
Used $1.5o coupon from (SS 2/13/11)

Snickers, $0.88
–get $0.88 +UP

Paid: $4 in +UP, $7.38 in cash

Got back: $0.88 in +UP, submit for $10 in SCR

Overall, I spent $5.55 out of pocket. I have $0.88 in +UPs left and I will get $17 in single check rebates.

$11.45 cash moneymaker is a great shopping day in my book! The thing that I like is that I was able to turn some of my +UP rewards into actual money by getting single check rebate items. There are several other good deals this week but I only bought the SCR items that we will use.

So my other mistake today was leaving the Sunday coupon inserts from today’s paper in my cart! I was distracted by Mr. B- yes blaming the little guy! Anyways, I realized it when I arrived at Kroger. There was a nice gentleman trying to sell newspaper subscriptions who gave me a free paper! Yeah- I love it when everything works out!

How did you do this morning? Score any good deals?

  1. scored a great deal on sugar daddy suckers at Rite Aid today! they were on clearance for 8 cents each!! yeah only 3 cents more than I paid for them when I was a kid! so I bought all they had, 12 of them for less than $1 going back later for Similac, . on my register receipt it says I have points??? what is that all about?

    • Sandy,
I bet the Sugar Daddies brought back memories!

The points on the receipt are your wellness + points. You collect points and will get a discount off regular priced items when you reach a certain level. The levels are as follows:
      125 points= a one-time, 10% off shopping pass
silver +500 points=10% off all non-prescription purchases every day
gold +1,000 points=20% off all non-prescription points purchases every day

I also received a $3/$15 coupon on the end of my receipt if I take a survey. Check your receipt for that!

  2. You did awesome! My kids always get me flustered too. I sure wish we had a Rite-Aid in Florida–turning +UP rewards into cash is pretty impressive! Great job.

  3. Amazing stuff! Great job on the SCR deals with so little OOP!

  4. I did Rite Aid on Sunday morning (without the 2 year in tow so I have no excuses) and I made just as many mistakes. I bought one of the Ester Cs without the second one and they were B1G1. My store returns at the beginning of the next transaction so it is basically a credit to start again. I bought the wrong candy bar so I had to return that and get the right one but luckily that was an even exchange. Then I was left with a handful of expiring UP rewards so I went through the store like a crazy person grabbing everything that I could so that I wouldn’t loose money. I didn’t intend to buy it all but add some based on what I needed to use the UP rewards that were expiring….. lost my brain on the way to the register and did all of the stuff in the cart. Luckily, I had some other up rewards that weren’t expiring and I used all but $1 and I was starting to sweat when I got to the end of the pile. I was a little worried that I screwed it up but after I left and figured out the overall spend, I was less worried about my shopping spree! I spent $4.52 oop and am getting back $11 rebate for over $150 of products. Gotta love couponing when you make money for your family!!!

    • Alison,
I have been there before with he panic and last minute planing! I am glad that it worked out for you in the end! I love Rite Aid!
      Thanks for sharing your experience!
