You all know how much I love my garden! I think a garden is a great way to teach children about the food we eat plus it get’s them eating vegetables! I am so happy to read that Whole Foods is supporting school gardens.

Beginning August 17th, Whole Foods will offer a Whole Kids Foundation School Garden Grant program in partnership with FoodCorps that supports the implementation or expansion of school gardening programs. According to Whole Foods, “Teaching kids to garden helps them learn about complex topics like sustainability and conservation, food systems and community awareness. Not to mention an appreciation for food from seed to plate.” I couldn’t agree more!

If you haven’t been to a Whole Foods recently, stop in and explore. They have an amazing bulk food section! Whole Foods recently catered the A Social Soiree event and the food was fabulous. The pictures in this post are actual pictures from the event courtesy of Short and Hat.

This is pretty amazing. I have been thinking about trying to implement a program like this at the local elementary school – May have to get my act together and write out a plan so that I am ready when the application process begins!! Thanks!
