Thanksgiving Kids Table Setting

Thanksgiving has crept up on me this year! Is it really 11 days away? I recommend that you start menu planning now if you haven’t started yet. Making your Thanksgiving menu plan ahead of time will keep you organized and help you save the most at the grocery store.

  1. The first thing you want to do is do some recipe research. I have a couple of dishes that I make every Thanksgiving as tradition. I then like to research new recipes to add something different to the table. Don’t forget about my recipe index to help in your recipe planning!
  2. When you are doing your recipe research, make sure to take your oven space into consideration. I usually make something in my slow cooker, like my mashed sweet potatoes, to free up some oven space.
  3. The next step is to take inventory of the ingredients you have in your pantry and freezer. If you are really tight on your budget, plan your recipes around what you already have on hand.
  4. Make sure you check your spices before you head to the store. Remember that spices do loose their potency and for the best results, spices need to be updated every year.
  5. After you have a list of what you need, make sure you prepare for holiday grocery shopping. Get your coupons organized and shop early to avoid the crowds. Since we still have a two ads cycles at the stores before Thanksgiving, you can spread your shopping out to get the best prices.

Do you have your Thanksgiving menu planned already? I would love to hear what you are making!
