While shopping at Kroger I came across a display of pie pumpkins and it reminded me that I needed to make pumpkin puree. Pie pumpkins are only $0.99 right now at Kroger! This is a great time to make your own pumpkin puree and stock your freezer. The last time I made homemade pumpkin puree from a pie pumpkin, it yielded about 4 cups. So at $0.99 a pumpkin, making homemade pumpkin puree is much more cost effective than buying canned pumpkin!
