Curbing Impulse Buys

dead daffodils

The other day I was shopping at one of my favorite stores – Trader Joes. They had cut daffodils for $1.50! I LOVE daffodils as they are so bright an cheery. Without hesitation, I grabbed a bundle of cut daffodils and put them in my cart.

Within four days, my beautiful daffodils started to wilt.

This was an aha moment for me. It would have been better for me to buy potted daffodils. Not only would they have lasted longer than the cut flowers, I would be able to plant the bulbs in my flower bed for next year. Yes, even money saving pros like myself make mistakes!

Curb those impulse buys! Make sure you really think about what you are buying. How long will it last? Is the item really worth the money? Is there a better option available that will give you the same effect?

Instead of just popping the item in the cart, think about it. Store marketing is smart- they want you to impulse buy!

Are you an impulse buyer? I would love to hear from you!
