Mason Jar Soap pump

Another creative idea from my sister is making soap pumps out of mason jars! These colorful mason jar soap pumps add some whimsy to the counter-top and they are very easy to make.

Supplies

Mason jar with lid
soap pump (save from old soap pumps)
spray paint (2 contrasting colors)
sandpaper
waterproof silicone

Take the glass part of the mason jar and spray paint the first color onto the jar. Allow the paint to dry. When the first color is dry, spray paint with the second color. Again, allow the paint to dry.

Take the sandpaper and start roughing up the paint exposing the first color of paint that you used. Sand as much or as little as you want!

For the pump top, make sure the length of the pump fits into your jar. You might need to trim the pump stem to make it a good fit. In the top of the mason jar lid make a small hole to slip the pump stem through. Then use clear silicone to attach the pump to the lid. Let the silicone dry and then insert the pump into the mason jar. Use the mason jar ring to secure the lid to the jar.

The mason jar soap pump is now ready for use! My sister labeled her jars at the kitchen sink – one for hand soap and one for dish soap – with a chalk marker. Very clever!
