Freezing Butter and Stockup Price

Butter

Another item that is used frequently during holiday season is real butter. I prefer real butter compared to margarine (and I plan to write a post on that debate sometime soon!). My stockup price on a pound of real butter is $1.99. When Kroger has butter on sale for $1.99 or less, I stockup. This week Kroger has Land O Lakes butter for $1.99 as part of the Mega Event. If you have the All You magazine coupon, you can get the half sticks for just $1.49!

Butter does have a long refrigerator date usually. However, butter also freezes well. I just put the whole carton of butter in the freezer and pull it out when I need it. Just make sure the butter is wrapped tight so it doesn’t absorb odors. Butter defrosts easily when placed in the refrigerator. Some say that you frozen butter could change the texture of baked goods, but I haven’t had an issue.

If you are a butter user, stockup when the price is right!
