Mango

A mango is a super sweet tropical fruit that we enjoy. We stopped at Kroger earlier this week and mangoes were on sale for $0.50 each- my buy price. My mom was with me and said she likes mangoes but didn’t know how to cut them. Perfect- let’s due a tutorial!

cut mango half

Mangoes have a large seed in the middle of the fruit. There are also two sides of the mango that are a little flatter. The first thing to do is lay the mango on a flat side and make a cut along the seed.

Cut second side mango

Then flip the mango onto the other flat side and cut another piece along the seed.

Two Mango pieces

There will be some edible fruit left along the seed. Take a knife and carefully cut the small pieces away from the seed.

score mango

Then you want to score the fruit into cubes. Do not cut completely through the skin.

scored mango

Push the scored mango pieces up toward you so that the cubes are raised.

cut from skin

Carefully cut the mango cubes away from the skin. Repeat with the second piece of mango.

diced mango

Don’t let that large seed keep you from enjoying a mango!

  1. I love mangoes, but I had no idea how to cut them. I just chopped away and whittled to get as much off as I can. I bought 7 of them on sale (my buy price is $.50 as well), so this is great timing for this tutorial. Thanks Renae!
