Eating right helps keep our bodies sharp from our heads to our toes. “The right nutrients help you think clearly, so keep these foods in regular rotation says, “Joy Dubost, Ph.D., R.D.”

Turmeric. The curcumin in it stops the plaque buildup between the brain’s nerve cells that causes inflammation. Use turmeric to season scrambled eggs. grilled chicken, or other recipes you whisk up in your kitchen.

Coffee. Caffeine blocks receptors for adenosine, a chemical in the brain that causes fatigue. Dubost recommends 12 ounces of java a day to improve alertness.

Blueberries. Their antioxidants protect the brain against memory loss. Two cups of blueberries in a smoothie can boost your attention five hours later, research shows.

Amaranth. This quick-cooking grain is a good source of B vitamins, which help convert food to glucose to fuel your brain. Eat it as a side dish, or add it to homemade granola.

I (Litsa) love these news flashes about eating right. I’m always making a mental list to keep eating some foods and another list of foods that I need to add to my personal diet since they never make the list. Coffee and blueberries are added to my intake daily. Turmeric and amaranth never make a presence on my food pyramid. I like the suggestions of how to add these two food sources to my diet.

Which of these four foods add concentration boosting nutrients to your body?
