Organize My Life: Clothing Swap

Over the long Labor Day weekend I spent a great deal of time sorting clothing. My boys closets and dressers were out of control. Mr. B is 4 and he still had some 2T items in his dresser! The funny part is, he would occasionally put on those 2T items which were much too small. He had PJ pants that were two inches to short!

I pulled everything out of Mr. B’s closet and dresser. We made a big mess with a huge pile of clothing but it was really the easiest way to sort everything. Mr. B is extremely picky about his clothing. Therefore I included him in the decisions. I didn’t want to keep items he was never going to wear. We had a yes pile, a donate pile, a consignment pile and a trash pile.

After I was done with Mr. B, I headed on over to Capt. M’s room. We went through the same routine, although I added a pile for passing down to Mr. B. This was the first time I included the boys in this process. It went really well having my little helpers sort items.

Now that their clothes are organized, I can take inventory of what they need for winter. Plus they now have room for Fall/ Winter items!

It’s time to start switching the season’s wardrobes over! Have you cleaned out your children’s clothes recently?
